Employer Obligations
Upon successful completion of the training the analysts will be able to undertake supervised casework. The knowledge base is provided entirely on CD. Theoretically, a suitably qualified, motivated student could work through the material without support and at a self-determined rate.
Note: |
In order to meet the laboratory’s obligations under the QA Standards, it is necessary that the DNA Technical Leader actively supervises the training. |
The program incorporates guidelines for the development of individual training plans and for the completion of competency records. The Technical Leader must meet with the student and develop a binding individual training plan with target dates for completion (as described in the Laboratory Training Manual). The Technical Leader is responsible for managing the progress of the student through each stage of the plan, for proctoring of the tests, and for completion of the competency records. The plan should aim for completion of the entire training (including the practical exercises) in 4 to 6 months.
Note: |
The CD material is sufficient to meet the knowledge base requirements of the instruction, but the laboratory must arrange access to laboratory facilities for the practical exercises. |
