Tests and Grading
Knowledge Base
Modules requiring a test are identified in the Course Content. The tests provided are usually in the form of a multiple choice quiz. The tests are constructed and administered such that the questions and the student responses are confidential.
In the case of Population Genetics, the test is somewhat more extensive, so that successful completion of the module satisfies the requirement for “…course work and/or training in statistics and population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis.” as defined by the QA Standard 5.3.1. There is also an option to take the Population Genetics module for academic credit (contact the NFSTC for more information).
Practical Exercises
Students must be able to demonstrate practical competency to the satisfaction of the Technical Leader by completing the practical exercises outlined in the Individual Training Plan. The Laboratory Training Manual includes review questions to facilitate discussion.
