Alu sequences are abundant in the human genome numbering approximately 500,000 to 1,000,000 copies per genome. The AluQuant™ Human DNA Quantitation System probes Alu repeats. It is performed by denaturing the sample and incubating it with the AluQuant™ Enzyme and AluQ™ Probe solutions that are furnished with the kit. The method employs a series of reactions that ultimately result in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which correlates with the amount of DNA present. The amount of ATP is determined by using a luminometer.06
