NFSTC recognized for outstanding social media outreach

NFSTC received the BizTech 2013 Innovation Award in the category of Best Use of Social Media at the BizTech Innovation Summit and CoolTECH Expo on Thursday in Tampa. The event, hosted by the Tampa Bay Business Journal and the Tampa Bay Technology Forum and presented by Brighthouse, features companies, organizations and academic institutions that contribute to the growth of innovation and technology in the Bay Area. The Innovation Awards recognize Tampa Bay businesses that are using technology in innovative ways.

Over the past year, NFSTC has worked to build a community of engaged followers that includes forensic practitioners, law enforcement, students at every level, the broader justice community, and members of the public with an interest in forensic science. From a meager presence on Facebook and Twitter at the start of 2012, NFSTC used a highly focused strategy to grow our social presence in the small, niche forensic science market. Today, NFSTC has seen more than 120% growth in Facebook fans and a greater than 1,200% increase in Twitter followers. Late in 2012, NFSTC launched a LinkedIn company page that garnered 339 followers before the end of the year.
